Deliberate resources are created to be used. We want educators, instructors, consultants, and organizations to be able to bring these materials into their work while protecting the time, thought, and creative work that goes into creating them.
These Licensing Terms explain how purchased and free Deliberate resources may be used.
By purchasing, downloading, or using a Deliberate resource, you agree to the applicable terms below.
The Licence Follows the Purchaser
A Deliberate product may be purchased by either an individual or an organization.
The rights to access and use the product belong to the purchaser and cannot be transferred except as expressly permitted under these terms.
Individual Licence
When a Deliberate product is purchased by an individual, the licence belongs to that individual.
The purchaser may:
- use the product in their professional work;
- use it across different workplaces throughout their career;
- use it with multiple groups or classes;
- use it in programs for which participants or families are charged a fee;
- print and reproduce participant-facing materials as reasonably necessary for the groups they personally facilitate; and
- adapt activities, language, timing, materials, or implementation to meet the needs of the people they work with.
An individual licence does not provide access to the purchaser’s coworkers, employer, agency, school, or other organization.
The purchaser may use the product while working for an organization, but may not provide the digital product or instructor materials to coworkers for their independent use.
If the purchaser changes workplaces, the licence remains with the purchaser.
Organization Licence
When a Deliberate product is purchased by a company, agency, school, or other organization, the licence belongs to that organization.
An Organization Licence permits access and use by up to 100 current employees or contractors of the purchasing organization, regardless of their work location.
Licensed employees and contractors may:
- use the product as part of their work for the purchasing organization;
- use it with multiple groups or classes;
- use it in programs for which participants or families are charged a fee;
- print and reproduce participant-facing materials as reasonably necessary for programs operated by the organization; and
- adapt activities, language, timing, materials, or implementation to meet the needs of the people they work with.
The 100-person limit applies to current users, not the total number of people who have accessed the product over time. When one employee or contractor leaves, another may take their place under the licence.
When an employee or contractor stops working for the purchasing organization, their right to access and use the product under that organization’s licence ends. They must not retain digital or printed copies for use outside the organization.
If they wish to continue using the product independently or at another workplace, they must obtain their own licence or use a licence held by their new organization.

Printing and Reproduction
Deliberate products are designed to be used in real teaching and group environments.
Licensed users may print and reproduce participant-facing materials, worksheets, activity pages, visuals, and similar materials as reasonably necessary for their licensed use.
Permission to reproduce these materials for participants does not include permission to distribute the complete product, instructor materials, or digital files to unlicensed individuals or organizations.
Adapting the Materials
We recognize that good instruction requires responsiveness.
Licensed users may adapt Deliberate activities and materials for their own implementation, including adjusting language, timing, difficulty, materials, group structure, or other elements to better meet the needs of their participants.
Adaptation for use under your licence does not transfer ownership of the original material or create a right to publish, distribute, license, or sell an adapted version of a Deliberate product.
Sharing and Distribution
Unless expressly permitted by Deliberate, you may not:
- share a purchased digital product with someone who is not covered by your licence;
- email, copy, transfer, or otherwise distribute the complete product to unlicensed individuals;
- upload purchased materials to a publicly accessible website, file-sharing service, resource library, or online platform;
- make an individual purchase available through an employer’s shared drive or organization-wide resource system;
- provide an organization’s licensed copy to another organization;
- sell, sublicense, or redistribute Deliberate materials;
- remove Deliberate branding or copyright information for the purpose of presenting the materials as your own; or
- reproduce or modify Deliberate materials for resale or commercial distribution as a competing or derivative resource.
Free Resources
Resources specifically identified by Deliberate as free resources may be downloaded, printed, and used for personal or professional educational purposes.
You may make copies of participant-facing free resources for the children, students, or participants you work with.
Free resources may not be sold, repackaged for sale, presented as your own work, or uploaded elsewhere for others to download.
If you would like to share a Deliberate free resource with another educator, please share the Deliberate webpage or download link rather than redistributing the original digital file.
Ownership
Purchasing or downloading a Deliberate product grants you permission to use the product according to these Licensing Terms. It does not transfer ownership of the underlying intellectual property.
Unless otherwise stated, Deliberate retains all applicable intellectual property rights in its curricula, resources, written content, illustrations, graphics, instructional materials, and other original works.
